Graduated with a Law Degree from the University of Costa Rica in 1992, she began her professional practice as a member of the Public Defense since 1989, where she stood out as a tireless fighter for her clients.
She incorporated to the Bar Association since 1992.
She has 30 years of experience in criminal litigation and for approximately three years she worked in parallel as a Defender of Victims of Sexual Harassment within the Judiciary, beginning this work between 2010 and 2012.
Consultant in Criminal Procedural Law and Criminal Law in Nicaragua, Honduras and Mexico between the years 2000, 2004 and 2005, for the Public Defenses of the three countries, within the process of creation or strengthening of said institutions, under the changes of the new accusatory paradigm in criminal proceedings generated in Latin America in general in those years and in Costa Rica initiated with the Criminal Procedure Code of 1996.
First Director of Public Defense Magazine from the year of its creation from 2001 to 2004.
Professor at the University of Costa Rica, the courses of General Theory of the Process in the years 2004 and 2005. As Professor of the Course of “General Criminal Law” in the year 2008 and of the Master of the University for International Cooperation (UCI), carried out in agreement with the University of Barcelona, within the Master’s Degree in Criminal Legal Sociology, Gender Course and Criminal Law. She gave the course designed by her, Gender and Criminal Law.
Graduated from the University of Barcelona, Faculty of Law, Doctorate Law in a globalized society Specialty in Criminal Legal Sociology. She with the Work to choose to obtain the Diploma of Advanced Studies. “Assaulted women who act in legitimate defense: The problem of their non-recognition by Criminal Law” Barcelona 2007.
She joins the firm in 2019, in criminal litigation.
